We’re building the most radical political youth movement in England and Wales

Will you join us?

Political leaders are gambling away our futures. An unelected Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, resides in No. 10, is leadership neither born from, nor in any way respectful of, democracy. From voting for a bill which has seen the right to protest stripped away, to shamelessly attacking the most marginalised in our society, and all the while giving out more fossil fuel drilling licences - the Tory government, whoever sits at its head, is intent on stamping down on our generation.

But young people are rising up! From the rent strikers up and down the country, to the fossil fuel divestment movement, and the thousands of young people joining, and standing in solidarity with, trade unions in the biggest mobilisation of workers in a generation – it’s young people that have put climate and social justice on the global agenda. And this is just the start!

As young people, we have a vital role to play in today’s politics! It’s up to us to stand up for justice, compassion, and equality. We need fresh voices and radical ideas at all levels of government. We need to build a powerful political youth movement that’s ready to fight for politics that puts people before profits, and create a future worth saving.

Join the Green Party

We know that we can build a world that listen to young people and puts people and planet at the heart of it. To do that we need you to join us. Membership costs start from £6 per year for student membership.

Get Involved

Meet other Young Greens

Young Greens Groups are at the core of our network, delivering dynamic, grassroots campaigns and activity on the ground.

Find your nearest Young Greens group or society or start your own!

Talks, Talks and Panels too

Our political education events throughout the year offer an opportunity to get to grips with Green politics and our core values, and hear from experts and leaders from across the movement.

Organised by local groups and our national executive, you can get to know other activists and hear from them on issues they’re working on.

Stand for election

We support Young Greens to stand as candidates in local and national elections and mobilise hundreds of volunteers to help get them elected!

In 2023, we coordinated to successfully increase our number of Young Green Councillors in local government to 35, from just 2 four years ago! You could stand for election or come along to an action day.

Socials

Get to know your local Young Greens at social events they run. Pub crawls or picnics in the park, come along and spend some time chatting about politics, whether you’re just starting out or already have a keen political mind — we can’t wait to meet you!

Campaigns

Over the years our groups have run a variety of campaigns, including calling for justice for students, supporting the rent strikes, and urgent action to prevent climate disaster. Right now, we’re organising to make sure that COP26 produces meaningful climate action!

Democratically run by young people and students

The Young Greens are run by an elected Executive Committee made of over 20 different roles.

Each of our Local and University Groups is run by local Young Greens who are passionate about campaigning with their local communities and making change in their area.

What we're fighting for

We are the youth and student branch of the Green Party of England and Wales and we believe that we can build a better future for all. We campaign on radical issues that impact young people to build change from the grassroots, equipping our activists with the skills they need to deliver a real impact.
