Last week MP Julie Morgan's Private Member Bill on reducing the legal voting age to 16 was submitted.  The bill was debated in the House of Commons on Friday and received coverage in local newspapers, BBC online, and on the radio.

I stood as a paper candidate in the Levenshulme ward of Manchester City Council in the May 2008 local elections, and also helped out in our target ward of Hulme. I really enjoyed all the work, and here’s a summary of what I got up to!

Aled Dilwyn Fisher, a final year LSE student of Modern History and International Relations is the Green Party’s candidate for the London Assembly election in the North East London constituency in the upcoming May 1st London Elections (covering Islington, Hackney and Waltham Forest).

Student Union elections for both the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University student unions were held at the beginning of March to elect the new Executive to run the Unions for the next academic year.

Young Greens in LSE, Goldsmitths, Manchester and MMU are celebrating electoral successes at their student unions.

At LSE, Aled Fisher (YG Student Support and Membership Officer) was elected General Secretary of LSE Students Union. Two other Young Greens join Aled with sabbatical posts; Wil Barber as Treasurer and Dan Sheldon as Communications Officer.
