Freshers Fair went really well, we had about 170 join the mailing list so hopefully attendances should pick up this year 'cos we sometimes struggle with numbers. Giving away free stuff such as the seeds helped and we also had some fair trade chocolate and brownies made with organic local and fair trade stuff which seemed to draw people in.
York YG held a fantastic Young Greens Feast, cooked (almost) all from local Yorkshire and British produce. The menu featured several salads, with local cheeses and baked potatoes, and Sam's legendary rhubarb crumble to finish - the rhubarb had the fewest food miles, coming from Peter's allotment about half a mile away.
We wanted to support local farmers, and highlight the environmental benefits of sourcing food locally, as less petrol is needed to transport it.
