On Wednesday 14th May Hicham Yezza was arrested under the Terrorism Act and held without charge for six days. On release he was immediately re-arrested under immigration legislation and charged with offences relating to his immigration status. He was quickly moved to Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre where he faces deportation to Algeria on Sunday 1st June.

Hich has lived, worked and studied in the UK for 13 years. Since receiving a scholarship for his undergraduate and post graduate degree at Nottingham University, Hich's skills and enthusiasm have made him a popular figure on campus. He is an active member of debating societies, a prominent member of an arts and theatre group, and has been writing editorials for the Student Peace Movement magazine for the last five years.

The Young Greens of England and Wales demand that full consideration is given to Hich's case and that the attempts to rush through the deportation are ceased. Andy Birkby, Young Greens Male Co-Chair said, "Hich was one of the most inspirational students I met during my time at Nottingham University. I am disgusted by the behaviour of the University, the police, and the Home Office."

Arbitrary deportation without a proper hearing can never be justified. Find out how you can help Hich by visiting:
