Young Greens Committee and Regional Officers Elections

Young Greens Committee and Regional Officer positions up for grabs!

The Young Greens will be holding the hustings for committee and regional officer positons at the Conference in Liverpool, 13th-16th September 2007.

The following 10 Young Greens Committee positions are available:

  • Female Co-chair
  • Male Co-chair
  • Treasurer
  • Elections & Campaigns Co-ordinator
  • Fundraising & Events Co-ordinator
  • International Liaison Co-ordinator
  • Media Officer
  • Publications Officer (including newsletter)
  • Student Support Officer (including membership)
  • Website Officer

These positions can be held jointly and you can also recruit volunteers to help you cover your remit. All the positions are a fantastic way of getting involved at a national level and gaining experience.

If elected you are committed to attend Committee meetings which take place every 2 months in a different part of the country.

Young Greens had a fantastic time at the Strident camp up in Faslane a month agoand we're sure this camp will be really fun with lots of like mindedpeople getting together.

You may have read in the papers that BAA are trying to get an injunctionagainst all members of Airport Watch attending the protest - thatincludes members of the National Trust, CPRE, Friends fo the Earth, RSPBand Greenpeace. The court case is taking place at the High Court at themoment, so fingers crossed the judge will come out on the side of civil liberties, rather than corporate interests!

Young Greens Advertising for Part Time Coordinator

Are you passionate about getting young people involved in Green politics?

The Young Greens are recruiting a new Co-ordinator. The post is 7 hours per week (to be carried out over 1 full day or 2 half days) and is based in North London at Green Party head office, with occasional travel/weekends away in the UK. Line managed by Young Greens Chair and Green Party Local Party Support Executive Officer. Salary pro rata is c.£17,500.

Full training provided - enthusiasm, motivation and commitment for 1 year plus are most important. Role includes liaising with the Young Greens Committee and working closely with Green Party staff and executive.

New book on making Universities Green!

While we don't usually promote products or services, this new book will be really useful for anyone working to make their university more environmentally sustainable. Although its a US publication, the pointers given are relevant to us in the UK and provide an invaluable and comprehensive guide to formulating a green strategy.
