Spring Conference 2007 - Swansea

Its coming up to Conference time! Young Greens from all over the country will be heading to Swansea to attend plenaries, fringes, workshops and generally get together and enjoy ourselves!

Dates: 22nd to 25th Mar 2007

Venue: Brangwyn Hall, Guildhall Road South, Abertawe / Swansea, SA1 4PE

For those of you who have never come to Conference before, please do make the effort. The Young Greens are all a friendly bunch and we will be holding welcome drinks in the bar on Friday night for new and old Young Greens alike. If you need to find us at any time you can visit the Young Greens stall or the Young Greens table in the plenary hall. Please also come along to the Young Greens fringes on national strategy, campaigns and the new website and find out how you can get more involved.

The conference is being held in Swansea because it is the run up to the Welsh Assembly elections on the 3rd May. The themes of the conference will reflect those powers of the Welsh Assembly that arguably have the most impact on the people of Wales. Themes include:

Localisation, with a panel including Dr Molly Scot Cato, our economics spokesperson and a senior lecturer in economics at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff
Education - including how education can influence how our young people will treat the environment.
Energy - looking at the future for renewable energy in Wales, including contentious schemes like the Severn Barrage.

You can just turn up on any of the days of Conference but you get a reduced fee if you book by Monday 19th February (THIS MONDAY!). You don't have to be a member to come and you can bring friends along too if they are interested in finding out more about the Green Party. To book, go here and download the form. It is also a good idea to book your trains and coaches as soon as possible too to get the cheapest fares.

If you need somewhere to stay, you can stay with the Young Greens in a house kindly arranged with the local party or you can book crash space with the Green Party which is very cheap. If you would like to stay with the Young Greens, please ask at the Young Greens table in the main hall. You will need a sleeping bag and it may be a case of finding a place on the floor. Please remember that the house is loaned to us for the duration of Conference on the condition that it is treated with respect and it is kept clean and tidy at all times.

We really hope that you will come along to have your say and influence Green Party policy, meet members, and hear lively debate on topical issues!
