Welcome to Young Greens and thank you for visiting our site!
Young Greens aims to harness the energy and ideas of young people, and change the direction of our society towards a sustainable future. Our future is democratic, fair and just, where the basic rights of an individual are protected and valued.
One of the most common questions we have encountered is “Why should I be political?”We have seen our government ignore massive protests and even mislead us, on war, schools, university fees and now nuclear power. When the government is so detached from the country and even the world, we cannot influence them with words and numbers. Our alternative is to use democracy and elect the future.
Young Greens members connect and interact through Local Groups. This could range from meeting up socially to discuss your favourite topics, to setting up talks or actions, writing articles for the Young Greens website or a local paper, organising a fairtrade stall in your university, linking to your local Green Party to help with election campaigns, or almost anything that fires your imagination...
National Young Greens events and the twice-yearly Green Party Conferences provide opportunities for the national Young Greens network to meet up and share ideas. The Young Greens Committee takes care of booking shared accommodation and making sure everyone has a good time. In addition, throughout the year the Committee is there to support local groups with advice, administrative help and webspace.
Depending on where you live, your local Young Greens group may be at varying stages of development. But as more people get involved, we will put them in touch with each other.
This website will give you a feel of what Young Greens are achieving across the country. Please keep us up to date with your local group and feel free to send us any material for inclusion on the site.
You can make a difference, so do it.
Join us!
Best Wishes,
